HSBC Establishes AI Partnership for Legal Function

London-based HSBC has formed an artificial intelligence tie-up focused on supporting the bank’s legal function worldwide.

HSBC has established a strategic artificial intelligence (AI) partnership with legal services provider Harvey AI, according to a statement. The pilot will bring the AI platform into the bank’s global legal function to support controls and security aligned to regulatory expectations.

«This isn’t just about deploying new technology – it’s about reimagining how an in-house legal function can operate by combining the speed and efficiency of AI with the expertise and judgement of our legal professionals,» said Bob Hoyt, HSBC’s chief legal officer. «It is an investment in a future where our lawyers can spend more time on strategic, high-value work to benefit our business colleagues and the customers they serve.»

Harvey is an AI platform for legal and professional services with products that streamline workflows in areas including contract analysis, due diligence, compliance and litigation. It currently has more than 1,000 customers in over 59 countries.
