IG Group Appoints Managing Director for APAC
IG Group Holdings has appointed Saad Ahmed as managing director for Asia Pacific, effective immediately, as the trading and investing platform seeks to expand customer engagement and growth across the region.
Based in Singapore, Saad Ahmed will oversee IG’s consumer business across APAC and lead efforts to bring the company’s trading and investing products together into a more integrated offering for customers, it says in a statement.
IG, which has operated for more than five decades, is one of the world’s largest providers of contracts for difference, or CFDs. The group has identified APAC as a key growth market as retail participation in financial markets expands across the region.
The company has been broadening its product offering in APAC, launching share trading in Singapore in 2025 and subsequently expanding the service to Australia. The moves are part of IG’s strategy to cater to customers seeking both active trading and longer-term investing opportunities.
Strengthening Position Across APAC
«Saad is a proven operator with an exceptional track record of building and scaling high-growth businesses across Asia,» said Michael Healy, CEO of IG Consumer. «As we continue to strengthen our position across APAC, we see significant opportunities in attracting a new generation of traders and investors.»
Ahmed said the company’s established trading business gives it an opportunity to develop a broader and more connected proposition for customers in Asia.
«IG has spent five decades building one of the world’s strongest trading businesses, and there’s a real opportunity now to bring that range together into something more connected for customers across the region,» Ahmed said.
He added that customer trust and experience would be central to the company’s growth strategy, amid rising interest in trading and investing across Asia.
Ahmed joins IG with more than a decade of experience in fintech and digital platforms across Asia. He previously served as APAC CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Gemini and held senior regional positions at Grab and Uber, where he worked across commercial operations, merchant platforms, growth and strategic expansion in Southeast Asia and the wider Asia Pacific region.
The appointment comes as IG continues to expand beyond its traditional trading offering and position itself as a broader platform for self-directed investors and traders in APAC.
