HSBC Names Asia Family and Philanthropy Advisory Head

HSBC Private Bank has appointed former UBS adviser Francesca Chan to lead its family and philanthropy advisory business in Asia Pacific.

Francesca Chan will become regional head of family and philanthropy advisory, Asia Pacific, effective September 29, HSBC said in a statement on Wednesday.

Based in Hong Kong, she will report to Ann Ling, regional head of wealth planning and advisory, Asia Pacific.

Chan will lead the bank’s regional teams of family and philanthropy advisory specialists. Her responsibilities include advising ultra-high-net-worth clients on succession across generations, family office establishment, family governance and strategic philanthropy.

Joining From UBS

Chan brings nearly two decades of private wealth management experience. Most recently, she was an executive director and senior family advisor at UBS, advising wealthy Asian families on succession planning, family office establishment, residency planning and governance frameworks.

Her work also covered philanthropic strategy and next-generation development. Before UBS, she held roles at Deloitte Private, Noah Global Family Office and BNP Paribas.

The appointment marks a return to HSBC, where she began her career as an investment advisor with HSBC Securities in Canada.

Focus on Family Wealth

Ling said Chan’s experience with complex, multigenerational families would strengthen the bank’s advisory capabilities across succession, governance, family office setup and philanthropy.

The advisory business works closely with HSBC Trustee to support families in managing and transferring wealth across generations.
