HSBC launches AI-enabled banking platform for corporate clients
HSBC has launched HSBCnio, a digital platform that allows corporate and institutional clients to access banking services and data through web, mobile and application programming interfaces (APIs).
The platform enables clients to use their own AI tools to access authorized account and transaction data on a read-only basis through HSBC’s Model Context Protocol (MCP). Potential applications include liquidity forecasting, cash balance analysis, variance analysis and reporting.
HSBCnio also allows clients to view cash positions and transactions, arrange trade loans and foreign exchange transactions, and track payments. The bank said the platform is designed to reduce the time treasury teams spend retrieving and analyzing financial information.
The launch comes as Hong Kong seeks to attract more multinational companies to establish corporate treasury centers. The city introduced an action plan to support this effort in June 2026.
“Businesses are managing flows across markets, currencies and entities,” said Yvonne Yiu, HSBC’s head of Global Payments Solutions for Greater China. Treasury teams must increasingly turn complex data into timely decisions, she added.
HSBC plans to expand the platform’s capabilities, including through “Ask HSBC,” an AI feature designed to help clients query and interpret banking information.
