Barclays Hires Morgan Stanley Executive to Lead Asia Private Bank
Barclays has appointed Wee Yee-Yeong to lead its private banking business in Singapore and Asia, following the launch of its Singapore booking centre.
Wee Yee-Yeong will join Barclays later this year as head of private bank Singapore and head of private bank Asia, the British lender said in a statement on Tuesday.
Based in Singapore, he will lead the local private banking business and work with the bank’s wider distribution teams serving international Asian clients. He will succeed Alexander Harrison, who has been interim head of private bank Singapore.
Two Decades in Wealth Management
Wee joins from Morgan Stanley, where he is currently chief executive and head of sales for its Singapore wealth management business.
He brings more than 20 years of experience in wealth management across Asia Pacific, including senior leadership and client coverage roles at Bank of Singapore, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, UBS Wealth Management and Merrill Lynch.
His experience includes serving internationally mobile entrepreneurs, ultra-high-net-worth clients and family offices.
Singapore Expansion
The appointment follows the launch of Barclays Private Bank’s Singapore booking centre earlier this month. The bank is seeking to expand relationships with clients whose banking, investment and financing needs span multiple markets, drawing on its private, corporate and investment banking businesses.
«Singapore is a key market for Barclays and an important gateway to growth across Asia Pacific,» said Annabelle Bryde, head of Barclays Private Bank International.
