Crédit Agricole CIB Taps China Head for Asia-Pacific Role
Crédit Agricole CIB has appointed a veteran of the French banking group to oversee its business in Asia Pacific. Nicolas Vix takes over from Jean-François Deroche, who is retiring.
Nicolas Vix has been named Senior Regional Officer for Asia Pacific at Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB), effective September 1, the bank said.
Based in Hong Kong, Vix will oversee Crédit Agricole CIB’s operations across the region and drive the further development of its business with corporate and financial institution clients.
He succeeds Jean-François Deroche, who is retiring. In his new role, Vix reports to Crédit Agricole CIB Chief Executive Officer Jean-François Balaÿ and also joins the bank’s Executive Committee.
Nearly Four Decades With the Group
Vix brings extensive experience in Asian markets and has spent nearly four decades with the Crédit Agricole group. He joined in 1988, beginning his career in Beijing with Banque Indosuez.
He subsequently held a number of senior positions in Singapore and Hong Kong, primarily in financing, as well as a risk management role in Paris. In 2019, he was appointed Senior Country Officer for China.
Vix holds an engineering degree from École Centrale Paris as well as a degree in economics and finance from Sciences Po Paris. In 2023, he received the Shanghai Magnolia Silver Award from the Shanghai Municipal Government.
Growth Ambitions in Asia Pacific
The appointment comes as Crédit Agricole CIB pursues further growth in Asia Pacific under its ACT 2028 strategic plan. The bank currently operates in nine markets across the region.
Its activities in Asia Pacific span global markets, sustainable finance, real asset financing, corporate and leveraged finance, and transaction banking. The bank serves both Asia-Pacific clients internationally and global clients expanding their businesses in the region.
