BNP Paribas Expands APAC Role for Global Banking Head
BNP Paribas has expanded the responsibilities of its Asia Pacific Global Banking head Aymar de Liedekerke Beaufort, handing the veteran banker additional oversight of transaction banking as the French lender strengthens its cross-border corporate business between Asia and Europe.
BNP Paribas has appointed Aymar de Liedekerke Beaufort as head of transaction banking for Asia Pacific, effective September.
Based in Hong Kong, he will take on the role in addition to his existing position as head of global banking for Asia Pacific, bringing the two businesses under the same regional leadership.
De Liedekerke Beaufort reports to BNP Paribas Asia Pacific CEO Paul Yang. Functionally, he reports to Aurélia Normand, head of global transaction banking and global head of network banking, as well as George Holst, global head of corporate coverage, sectors and advisory.
Cross-Border Business in Focus
The move is designed to strengthen BNP Paribas' corporate banking platform across the region, with a particular focus on European multinationals expanding in Asia and Asian companies growing their businesses in Europe.
The French banking group has built a significant regional transaction banking franchise covering areas including cash and liquidity management as well as trade finance.
«Aymar's extensive experience and acute understanding of business development for MNCs across Europe and Asia position him perfectly to lead our APAC Global Banking and Transaction Banking businesses,» Yang said.
According to the APAC CEO, combining the responsibilities should help BNP Paribas strengthen connectivity across markets as corporate clients' banking requirements become increasingly complex.
Nearly Four Decades in Banking
De Liedekerke Beaufort has close to four decades of banking experience and has held senior leadership positions for BNP Paribas across Europe and Asia.
He succeeds Philippe Noirot, who is relocating to Europe to take on a new role within the group.
Noirot spent the past 15 years contributing to the development of BNP Paribas' Asia Pacific platform. Yang credited him with helping build the bank's transaction banking franchise and deepen its relationships with corporate clients across the region.
