Fiuu Deepens Southeast Asia Payments Push With JCB Deal
Southeast Asian fintech Fiuu is expanding its regional payments footprint after securing direct acquiring capabilities for Japan-based card network JCB across three key markets, with Thailand next in line.
Fiuu has secured a JCB Direct Acquiring license covering Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines, strengthening its position in Southeast Asia’s rapidly evolving payments market.
The license allows Fiuu to connect directly with JCB and process transactions in-house, reducing its reliance on intermediaries. This gives the payments provider greater control over transaction processing, settlement operations and merchant servicing across online and offline channels.
Building a regional payments platform
The move is part of Fiuu’s broader push to build out its regional acquiring capabilities as merchants increasingly operate across multiple Southeast Asian markets.
For businesses, direct acquiring can simplify payment infrastructure and potentially improve settlement processes, transaction visibility and reliability. Fiuu is positioning itself as a single regional payments partner combining direct card-scheme connectivity with local market infrastructure.
«Businesses expanding across Southeast Asia need payment partners that can combine local market understanding, direct scheme connectivity, and operational depth,» Fiuu CEO Eng Sheng Guan said.
Fiuu processed $13 billion in total payment volume in 2025, highlighting the scale the company has already achieved in the region.
Formerly known as Razer Merchant Services, Fiuu operates payment services across markets including Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam and Hong Kong. Its platform supports more than 110 payment methods.
Thailand Next on the Expansion Map
The partnership also gives JCB an opportunity to broaden acceptance of its cards across Fiuu’s merchant network in Southeast Asia.
JCB, one of Japan’s leading payment brands, has more than 181 million cardmembers globally and an acceptance network covering around 72 million merchants, according to the announcement.
Fiuu is now working to extend its direct acquiring capabilities to Thailand, which it identifies as a key market in its regional growth strategy. The expansion would further its ambition to establish a broader card-acquiring platform across Southeast Asia.
