RBC Appoints Insider to Lead Asia Wealth Business

Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has named Kamran Azim as Head of Wealth Management Asia and Chief Executive Officer of RBC Singapore Branch, effective November 1. He succeeds Rod Ireland, who will retire at the end of the year after more than 25 years with the bank.

Kamran Azim has spent almost two decades at RBC, having joined the bank in Toronto in 2008. During his tenure, he has held a number of senior leadership positions across Wealth Management and Capital Markets. Most recently, he served as Head of Private Banking, Singapore. Earlier, he was Chief Operating Officer of Wealth Management Asia, where he oversaw strategic growth initiatives and operational transformation across the region.

Commenting on the appointment, Wayne Bossert, Deputy Chair of RBC Wealth Management, said: «We are pleased to build on Rod's legacy with Kamran's appointment. Drawing on his commercial acumen, strong connectivity across RBC globally, and demonstrated success in executing strategic initiatives, Kamran is exceptionally positioned to advance our strategic priorities and deliver excellence for our clients across Asia.»

Based in Singapore, Azim will assume responsibility for RBC's wealth management business across Asia while also leading the bank's Singapore branch. According to RBC, the Canadian lender remains the only Canadian bank offering a full suite of wealth management services in Asia, serving clients with increasingly international wealth management needs across the region.
