The Asian wealth arm of Royal Bank of Canada is strengthening its presence in Singapore with the launch of a dedicated Global South Asia Team and the appointment of three senior private bankers.
RBC Wealth Management Asia has established a dedicated Global South Asia Team as part of its ongoing expansion strategy across the region.
The bank has appointed veteran private banker Abhijit Shetty as Managing Director and Team Head. Based in Singapore, he brings 23 years of experience across leading financial institutions including Citibank, Standard Chartered, DBS and ANZ. Throughout his career, Shetty has focused on developing and expanding non-resident Indian (NRI) wealth management businesses.
Joining him are Sandesh Assao, who takes on the role of Executive Director and Senior Relationship Manager, and Sudarshan V Athreya, appointed Managing Director and Senior Relationship Manager.
Assao brings more than two decades of private banking experience, having previously worked at Bank of Singapore, Nomura and EFG International. Athreya also has over 20 years of industry experience, gained at ICICI Bank, DBS and, most recently, BNP Paribas.
Singapore-Based Team
All three executives are based in Singapore and report to Gautam Chadda, Executive Director and Team Head.
According to RBC Wealth Management Asia, the appointments underline the firm’s commitment to expanding its footprint along the Global South Asia Corridor, a key focus area within its broader regional growth strategy.
