The Swiss private bank continues building out its team in Singapore and its offerings to ultra-high net worth (UHNW) clients and the non-resident Indian (NRI) market.

Union Bancaire Privée has added senior banker Rajan Thyagarajan and human resources specialist Iris Lew to its team in Singapore, Ranjit Khanna, the bank's chief executive, Singapore and head of private banking, South Asia, announced in a LinkedIn post on Thursday.

Lew joins from Citi, where she was vice president of human resources in Singapore since 2017. She previously held HR roles at Standard Chartered and BNY Mellon, and had an earlier six-year stint at Citi, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Thyagarajan brings almost three decades of experience in private banking and investment catered to NRIs. He was most recently global head of institutions for Indian fund manager UTI Asset Management's Singapore subsidiary. He was previously HSBC's director and head of Strategic Solutions Group, MENA Global Markets, Dubai and held roles at Standard Chartered and ANZ, according to his LinkedIn profile.

New Singapore COO

The appointments follow the announcement earlier this week that Jérôme Thuillier has joined the bank as its new Singapore COO from rival Bank of Singapore, where he was a program director.

In April 2019, the bank upgraded its merchant banking license in Singapore to a wholesale bank license, which allows it to provide a wider set of investment solutions to domestic clients.
