BNY Mellon's wealth management arm is promoting from within for a senior Asian role.

New York-based BNY Mellon named a new head for its wealth management unit in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Yolande Escher takes on the role with immediate effect, the firm said in a media statement.

Escher, who is currently based in London, will report to Jeroen Kwist, head of international wealth management. She will be responsible for growing the company's wealth management activities in Asia from Hong Kong.

Prior to joining BNY Mellon four years ago in the family office group, Escher was a desk head for U.K. resident non-domiciled clients at Barclays Wealth. The Swiss banker began her career with UBS.

«We are extremely committed to this market and Yolande’s wealth of experience, industry knowledge and client focus will play an integral role in our continued growth strategy in Asia Pacific,» said Kwist.
