BNY Mellon Investment Management announced two senior appointments boosting its presence in China.

The multi-boutique asset manager appointed Lydia Wu as institutional sales director, China and Gigi Wang, business development manager, China. 

Both will report to Jessie Zhang, head of Institutional Distribution, Greater China and Southeast Asia, BNY Mellon Investment Management.

Wu will be based in Hong Kong and responsible for relationships with mainland China and Hong Kong-based Chinese institutions, while Wang will be based in Shanghai to focus solely on mainland China, the firm said in a statement

Onshore Manufacturing and Distribution

Prior to taking on her new role Wu spent four years as vice president of China Business Development for State Street Global Advisors, prior to this she spent six years at Morgan Stanley Investment Management with a focus on Chinese institutions.

Wang joins from Bosera Asset Management where she spent seven years in the role of institutional business development director. Working from Shanghai, she was responsible for developing new business opportunities with institutional clients including commercial banks, insurance companies and pension funds.

Earlier this year the firm announced it had received approval from Shanghai Administration for Industry and Commerce, the final step in the incorporation of an Investment Management Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise (IM WFOE) in China.
