AXA Completes Re-Domiciliation to Hong Kong

Insurer AXA has taken advantage of Hong Kong’s new rules by re-domiciling from Bermuda to the city.

AXA has completed the re-domiciliation of its China region insurance unit from Bermuda to Hong Kong, according to a statement. The unit covers its businesses in Hong Kong and Macau.

The move was made under the new re-domiciliation regime introduced by Hong Kong in May 2025, which allows overseas-incorporated companies to transfer their legal domicile to Hong Kong without winding up or re-incorporating. This enables them to preserve their legal identity and achieve operational continuity while obtaining access to Hong Kong’s commercial, regulatory, and tax advantages.

«The re-domiciliation underscores our strong confidence in Hong Kong’s strategic importance and growth potential, and reflects our unwavering commitment to serving customers with resilience and innovation,» commented AXA Greater China CEO Sally Wan. «Leveraging Hong Kong’s robust economy and its role as a regional hub for insurance and risk management, we are confident that AXA’s long-term success will continue to advance.»
