Baltimore-based Brown Advisory will enter its next stage of growth in Japan with the opening of a new office in Tokyo.

Brown Advisory has opened an office in Tokyo, according to a statement. The firm appoints Toshiyuki Murasawa as head of Japan office, reporting to Singapore-based head of Asia Pacific Walter Beckett.

Murasawa has 25 years of financial services experience, most recently at Credit Suisse Asset Management.

Asset Management Partnerships

Brown Advisory started working with clients in Japan in 2009 and has won equity mandates for three strategies.

It currently partners with Japan’s Nissay Asset Management and Asset Management One on two of their equity strategies. The firm will continue to look for other partners for exposure to equity and fixed income solutions.

«We are now moving to the next stage of our business in Japan where our current relationships justify having experienced personnel on the ground to ensure we remain close to our expanding client base,» said Beckett.
