Deutsche Bank Discusses Partnership With Football Team

Deutsche Bank is in talks to expand a business partnership with Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt as part of its strategy to boost its popularity in Germany.

Deutsche Bank, currently working on a payment system with Eintracht Frankfurt for events at its stadium, is in talks with the club in extending a business partnership.

«We are talking to Eintracht about extending our business partnership,» said a source, who was quoted in «Reuters». The talks involved sponsorship, naming rights, and regional engagement. Both declined to comment and the club has not responded to a request for comment outside of business hours.

Merger Plans Ditched

If the lender's plan materializes into an agreement, it would land a punch to Commerzbank, whose name and logo have decorated Eintracht’s home ground for over a decade. Last year, both lenders abandoned talks to merge.

Meanwhile, Deutsche has reduced its global footprint to focus more on its home market and parts of Asia as part of a strategic overhaul.
