Deutsche Bank Rolls Out Agentic AI for Wealth Checks in Asia
Deutsche Bank Private Bank has introduced an agentic AI tool in Singapore and Hong Kong to support source-of-wealth checks, as it prepares for higher client onboarding volumes.
The solution went live at the bank’s Singapore and Hong Kong booking centres in early September, Deutsche Bank said in a statement on Tuesday. It has also been introduced for advisers in Dubai handling accounts booked in Singapore. A broader rollout across the Private Bank’s wealth management centres is planned.
The tool automates research, documentation and the preparation of source-of-wealth data. These checks form a core part of the know-your-customer (KYC) process, requiring banks to establish how prospective clients accumulated their wealth.
Human Oversight
Integrated into Deutsche Bank’s digital KYC platform, the solution analyses client documents and information from approved external sources. It helps identify gaps or inconsistencies and prepares source-of-wealth assessments for human review.
«We developed it with a clear principle in mind: while tasks can be automated, accountability remains with our people,» said Yiping Li, chief operating officer of Deutsche Bank Private Bank.
The bank said the tool would reduce administrative work and allow relationship managers to spend more time advising clients, while retaining its existing control framework.
Higher Onboarding Volumes
Deutsche Bank expects the solution to support significantly higher onboarding volumes. Based on current forecasts, its Emerging Markets coverage region is on track to onboard approximately 30 percent more clients in 2026 than in 2025. The figure is a regional forecast, rather than a measure of gains already delivered by the AI tool.
The bank also said the initiative supports Singapore’s wealth management industry ambition to achieve median client onboarding times of one month or less, including more complex cases.
Marco Pagliara, head of Emerging Markets at Deutsche Bank Private Bank, said reducing repetitive tasks would help relationship managers focus on advice while improving the quality and consistency of the bank’s processes.
