Deutsche Bank Hires Citi Veteran for Southeast Asia
Deutsche Bank has named veteran wealth manager Jennifer Tay as Vice Chairman for Southeast Asia, further strengthening its regional private banking business.
Jennifer Tay will join the bank on August 3 and report to Johanes Oeni, Head of Southeast Asia for Deutsche Bank’s Private Bank, according to a statement released on Wednesday.
Veteran banker joins from Citi
Tay joins Deutsche Bank from Citibank, where she spent more than two decades in a range of senior wealth management and client advisory roles. Most recently, she served as Market Executive for Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand, while also leading Asia South Investment Counselling.
In that capacity, she oversaw client engagement, strategic initiatives and business development across multiple markets, while personally advising ultra-high-net-worth clients in Singapore and Indonesia.
Earlier in her career, Tay held leadership positions in managed investments, portfolio counselling and investment advisory, leading teams across Singapore, Hong Kong, the Middle East and London. She also worked with institutional investors and sovereign wealth funds.
Focus on client coverage
In her new role, Tay will work closely with Oeni and the Southeast Asia leadership team to deepen relationships with key private banking clients, enhance senior client coverage and support the continued expansion of Deutsche Bank’s «One Bank Solutions» offering across the region.
The appointment forms part of Deutsche Bank’s broader strategy to strengthen its wealth management franchise in Southeast Asia by adding experienced senior bankers.
«Our ability to continue attracting highly respected bankers like Jennifer reflects the strength of our platform, the momentum of our business and the opportunities we offer senior coverage and clients,» said Marco Pagliara, Head of Emerging Markets at Deutsche Bank.
He added that Tay’s regional network, leadership experience and market expertise would help the bank expand client coverage and deliver tailored wealth management solutions across Southeast Asia.
