Following Anna Marrs' exit from Standard Chartered, a new female CEO in Asia emerges. She is a former Canadian immigrant with a love of basketball and a strong sense of fairness.

Chung Wei Hsu, also known as Judy Hsu, is currently Standard Chartered's chief executive officer for Singapore and Asean markets.

With the sudden announcement of Anna Marrs' departure this week, Hsu takes over additional responsibilities and becomes one of the most influential female bankers in Southeast Asia, as finews.asia reported earlier. But who is this woman who has never been in the spotlight before?

Immigrant in Canada

In 2017, Hsu said in an interview with lifestyle magazine «Icon» (Chinese language), she was not only happy to listen to opinions, but was happy for subordinates to challenge her and inspire more good ideas.

In another interview she admitted that her strong sense of fairness and inclusiveness goes back to her childhood: «As a new immigrant in Canada, I remember the experience of trying to fit in at a new school in a new country at the age of nine and wrestling with a completely different culture.»
