Mox Hires Standard Chartered Executive as Chief Commercial Officer
Hong Kong digital bank Mox has appointed Philip Wong as chief commercial officer, bringing in a veteran wealth management executive from parent group Standard Chartered as it pushes deeper into digital wealth management.
Mox Bank has named Philip Yin Pui Wong as chief commercial officer, giving him responsibility for product P&L, brand, marketing, business analytics and customer experience. The appointment is aimed at supporting the digital bank's next phase of growth, with wealth management becoming an increasingly important part of its strategy.
Wong brings more than 20 years of experience spanning wealth management, insurance, retail banking, investment banking and securities.
He joins Mox from Standard Chartered, where he most recently served as managing director. In that role, he led customer experience initiatives in China as well as the development of AI-based wealth advisory capabilities globally, according to the announcement. Earlier in his career, Wong held senior positions at several financial institutions and also built a fintech company.
Digital Wealth Push
The appointment comes as Mox seeks to strengthen its position beyond everyday digital banking and expand its wealth management proposition.
«The rising demand for accessible digital wealth solutions is fuelling Mox's success,» Mox CEO Barbaros Uygun said. Wong's wealth management experience fits the bank's ambition to become a leading digital wealth bank, he added.
Wong said Mox had demonstrated how digital banking could make financial services «simpler, smarter and more accessible» in Hong Kong. He said he plans to build on that foundation and expand the bank's digital banking offering.
Standard Chartered-Backed Bank
Mox was launched in Hong Kong in September 2020 and is backed by Standard Chartered in partnership with PCCW, HKT and Trip.com. The licensed digital bank has increasingly positioned wealth management alongside its cards and lending businesses.
According to the company, the Mox Credit Card ranked as the seventh-largest credit card portfolio among Hong Kong retail banks in the first half of 2026, based on TransUnion data. Mox's technology and know-how have also been transferred to Singapore's Trust Bank.
