Bank of Singapore nabbed a veteran private banker from a global rival to grow its business across Europe.

Anthony Adriano Simcic joins the Singapore-based private bank as managing director with the international team. Simcic will take up his role on March 12, 2018 reporting directly to Olivier Denis, global market head for Singapore, Malaysia and international, the bank said in a press release.

Prior to joining Bank of Singapore Simcic was managing director and head of private banking with HSBC Private Bank in Luxembourg. Before that he was first vice president and head of multi family offices also with HSBC Private Bank.

Luxembourg Connection

Bank of Singapore, which runs its European business from London, reportedly is eyeing a presence in Luxembourg. This would allow it to continue selling services across the European Union following the U.K.'s vote to break away from the bloc, as finews.asia already reported.

The wealth manager has been ramping up its presence outside Asia and recently announced plans to hire as many as 25 private bankers in Dubai just one year after launching in the emirate.
