SIX Appoints CFO from Bain & Company
SIX has found a new Chief Financial Officer. He most recently worked at Bain & Company, but also spent many years at UBS and McKinsey.
The operator of the Swiss and (partly) Spanish financial market infrastructure has appointed a new CFO. Markus Habbel will assume the role as of 1 June and will also become a member of SIX’s Group Executive Board. He succeeds Daniel Schmuckli, who will leave SIX at the end of July, as previously announced in January.
According to a statement released on Tuesday, Habbel brings nearly three decades of international experience in finance, strategy, and leadership.
Consulting Firms and Global Banks
Habbel joins SIX from the consulting firm Bain & Company, where he spent five years as a Senior Partner and Global Head of Wealth & Asset Management and Financial Services Market Infrastructure. Prior to that, he held senior leadership roles at UBS in Zurich for more than eight years, most recently as Group Managing Director.
Earlier in his career, Habbel worked at McKinsey & Company in Frankfurt, where he spent twelve years as a Partner and Head of Corporate Finance, as well as at Morgan Stanley in London.
Executive Board Reshaped
SIX CEO Bjørn Sibbern commented: «Markus is an outstanding finance leader with a proven track record of delivering results in complex, global organisations. His extensive expertise in finance, strategy, and transformation will be instrumental in helping us continue to execute on our growth ambitions.»
Under the leadership of Sibbern, who took over as CEO of SIX at the beginning of last year, there have already been several changes within the Group Executive Board.
