State Street Makes Minority Investment in Indian Fintech
Boston-based State Street Investment Management has made a minority investment in an Indian fintech company as part of its broader commitment to democratizing investing.
State Street Investment Management has made a strategic minority investment in Groww Asset Management (Groww AMC), according to a statement, subject to regulatory approval. Groww AMC is the asset management arm of Billionbrains Garage Ventures, an Indian digital investment platform.
«India stands out as a market of immense opportunity, with a rising middle class, favorable demographics, and a rapid shift toward embracing modern investment products. Groww AMC is at the forefront of this transformation, making investment exposures accessible to millions of individuals and capturing a significant share of the growing domestic wealth market,» said Yie-Hsin Hung, CEO of State Street Investment Management.
«Our partnership with Groww AMC allows us to participate directly in the growth of India’s domestic asset management market, deliver a range of investment exposures to a broader population, and build a pipeline of Indian exposures for global distribution.»
In May 2025, State Street also formed a strategic relationship with India’s largest model portfolios platform, smallcase, for opportunities to distribute its SPDR exchange-traded funds.
