IG Singapore Launches First App Paying 3 Percent on Shares
IG Singapore is reshaping the investment landscape with the launch of «IG Markets» – the first app in Singapore to pay guaranteed interest on shareholdings and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Investors can now earn three percent annual interest on their portfolios while still enjoying capital growth and dividends, marking a first-of-its-kind innovation in the market.
The «Interest on Shares» feature introduces a steady income stream for retail investors. By simply holding eligible shares or ETFs and completing at least one trade per month, users receive guaranteed monthly interest payouts on investments up to S$50,000, IG Singapore announced on Thursday.
The interest is credited automatically in Singapore dollars on the first day of each month, with no lock-in period or minimum balance requirement.
Bridging Growth and Stability
«In an environment where interest rates are softening, investors are looking for new ways to stretch their dollar,» said Gavin Chia, CEO of IG Singapore and Emerging Markets.
«By being Singapore’s first platform to pay interest on shares and ETFs, we’re giving investors a powerful new way to earn stable interest alongside potential capital appreciation and dividends. Whether you’re just starting or building long-term wealth, IG Markets makes investing more rewarding,» he added.
Simple, Global, and Commission-Free
The IG Markets app offers access to major global markets – including Singapore, the United States, the UK, Hong Kong, and Japan – all with zero commissions and no platform fees. Investors can also buy fractional US shares, making global diversification accessible even with smaller amounts.
The platform combines simplicity and flexibility, aiming to remove the friction often associated with traditional investment products.
Launch Promotion for Singapore Investors
To celebrate its debut, IG Markets is offering a welcome bonus of S$218 for new clients who deposit at least S$1,000 and execute two trades within 30 days.
The promotion runs until 30 November 2025, underlining IG’s effort to build early adoption and engagement in its home market.
A Step Forward for Retail Investing in Singapore
With the introduction of guaranteed interest on shares and ETFs, IG is not only enhancing investor returns but also redefining what passive investing can mean.
The move signals a growing trend among fintech platforms to merge traditional investing with features once reserved for savings accounts – bridging the gap between growth and guaranteed returns.
