Nuveen Supercharges Infrastructure

Global asset manager Nuveen has launched a dedicated Global Infrastructure Investment Platform, uniting specialized teams under one umbrella to meet surging client demand for infrastructure exposure across public and private markets.

The move builds on decades of organic growth and acquisitions that have cemented Nuveen’s standing in alternatives, with $340 billion in assets spanning real estate, natural capital, infrastructure, private capital, and credit specializations.

Global infrastructure needs are projected to hit $94 trillion by 2040, fueled by clean energy transition, digital transformation, and aging systems. Nuveen’s platform is designed to channel capital into everything from early-stage renewable projects to stabilized digital infrastructure assets.

Veteran at the Helm

Jessica Bailey, former CEO of Nuveen Green Capital, steps into the newly created role of Head of Global Infrastructure. Reporting to CIO Saira Malik, Bailey will scale the platform, already ranked among the world’s top 20 infrastructure managers.

The platform consolidates Nuveen’s infrastructure units:

  • Energy Infrastructure Credit for private debt solutions in power and digitalization.
  • Diversified and Clean Energy Infrastructure Equity teams investing across clean energy, transport, agriculture, and storage.
  • Digital Infrastructure Equity, targeting private equity in cloud and connectivity.
  • Nuveen Green Capital, a leader in sustainable real estate financing.

This alignment keeps existing strategies intact while unlocking synergies across teams.

Infrastructure Joins Five Other Core Pillars

Infrastructure becomes one of six distinct asset class pillars, alongside global real estate ($135B AUM), natural capital ($11B), private capital ($87B), fixed income ($569B), and equities ($536B). Together, they represent Nuveen’s evolution as a fully integrated multi-asset powerhouse.

«We’re committed to delivering comprehensive infrastructure solutions across the risk-return spectrum,» said Nuveen CEO Bill Huffman. «By bringing together our specialized teams, we can better serve clients by allocating to the essential infrastructure investments that drive the global economy».

Central to Wealth Creation

With this restructuring, Nuveen is signaling that infrastructure, spanning renewable energy, digital networks, and resilient real estate, will be central to wealth creation and economic stability in the decades ahead.
