The ability for UOB cardholders to get early access to purchase Taylor Swift tickets in Singapore has resulted in increased applications.

Daily average credit card applications across Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam increased 45 percent month-on-month in the week that Taylor Swift announced her concert dates, according to a «Bloomberg» report citing a UOB spokesperson. Debit card applications in Singapore and Vietnam also surged nearly 130 percent.

The increased applications are likely due to a UOB promotion that allows cardholders in the five markets to access tickets on Wednesday this week 48 hours before the general public.

According to UOB, more than half of the successful applicants (52 percent) were female while customers aged 30 to 40 accounted for one-third.

After adding more dates last week, Swift will perform a total of six shows in Singapore this year. Tickets to her concerts are priced from S$108 ($80) to S$348 and at $13 million per night thus far, she is on pace to deliver the highest-grossing tour in music history.
