The global investment firm has made a senior appointment who will grow KKR’s real estate strategies across the Asia region.

KKR has appointed Tom Lee as managing director and head of Australia and New Zealand real estate, effective May 3, 2021, the firm said in an announcement.

Lee will lead KKR's Australia and New Zealand real estate platform and develop its pan-Asian core and core-plus strategy. He will also join the KKR Asia Real Estate Investment Committee. He was most recently CEO of LOGOS, a logistics real estate investment manager with operations across Asia Pacific. Prior to that, Lee held senior roles at BlackRock, MGPA and Lendlease in Asia, Europe, U.S. and Australia.

Important Market

Asia Pacific is an integral and increasingly important part of KKR's investment strategy. Earlier this year, the firm closed its inaugural pan-Asian real estate fund – a $1.7 billion fund focused on opportunistic real estate investments in Asia Pacific.

In Asia Pacific, KKR has deployed more than $1.5 billion in equity across approximately 20 real estate transactions since 2011, including investments in mixed use, commercial, industrial, hotel, office and retail properties, according to the firm. KKR also provides debt financing to real estate developers and companies.
