Liquid Group Extends Reach

The Singapore-headquartered regional mobile payment services group is strengthening its cross-border contactless QR payment network with a strategic collaboration in Vietnam.

Under a partnership with merchant acquirer PayME – Vietnam's first and only cross-border payment service provider – merchants will be able to accept cross-border contactless QR payment in stores, allowing users across Southeast Asia to make payments at Vietnamese merchants more easily

In addition, PayME merchants with an e-commerce presence can also enable online QR payment solutions, according to an announcement on Tuesday.

Liquid Group previously announced strategic partnerships to enable cross-border QR payment acceptance in Thailand, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Changing User Behavior

According to Liquid Group, the mobile payments and e-commerce space is rapidly growing in Vietnam, as user and merchant behaviors have changed amid Covid-19, which has accelerated the use of contactless payments.

«Covid-19 has driven an increase in consumer and merchant demand for mobile payment solutions as a contactless alternative to cash and we are quick to pivot and expand our payment solutions to include online QR payments,» said Jeremy Tan, founder and CEO of Liquid Group.
