VP Bank appoints a new group CEO six months after the search for a successor began.

Paul Arni will become CEO of VP Bank Group, effective, October 1 this year, pending approval by regulators in Liechtenstein. Till then, Urs Monstein, COO of the bank, will continue to act as the interim CEO.

Arni was most recently the Switzerland head of wealth management and a member of the board of management at Deutsche Bank. Previously, Arni was a deputy regional manager of Switzerland for Julius Baer; global COO for Credit Suisse's private banking arm; and spent 15 years in various front and back office roles at UBS.

«Paul Arni was chosen on account of his many years of front-office experience, supplemented by his extensive know-how in a wide range of specialist banking fields,» said Fredy Vogt, chairman of the board of directors at VP Bank.

«In addition, Paul Arni represents an excellent cultural fit with our bank. His professional background also ensures that Group Executive Management is well-balanced.»

Earlier this year, finews.com reported the sudden and unexpected exit of former CEO, Alfred Moeckli. Sources had told this publication that Moeckli had clashed with the VP Bank’s board due to strategic differences.
