Singaporean bank DBS appointed a head of consumer banking group and wealth management for its Hong Kong business.

Industry veteran Ajay Mathur takes up the role with immediate effect and will report to DBS' Hong Kong head, Sebastian Paredes. Mathur succeeds Royce Teo, who is returning to Singapore, the bank said in a press release.

Prior to joining DBS, Mathur was ANZ’s deputy CEO for retail and private banking in Indonesia. He began his banking career with Bank of America, and later joined ABN Amro in India.

In 2008, he joined Royal Bank of Scotland in Singapore as head of retail and wealth, and subsequently ANZ in 2011 with the Australian bank's acquisition of RBS' retail and wealth business.
