An Australian robo-advisory firm is taking its business, and fund raising efforts, to the other side of the world.

Irish fintech expert Peter Oakes has joined the executive team of Ignition Wealth (Ignition) as a member of the Sydney headquartered firm's Advisory Board.

Oakes is a former senior executive at both the Central Bank of Ireland and Bank of America.

An early adopter, and advocate of financial technology and regtech, Oakes has been appointed to provide guidance to Ignition globally and advise on the current capital raise in Ireland.

European Opportunities Eyed

In addition, leading accountancy and business development firm Crowe Horwath has been appointed to assist in raising capital to fund development of the Australian business as it expands in Ireland.

While the current focus is on the Republic of Ireland, should opportunities arise elsewhere in Europe, Ignition's technology stack is both multi-language and multi-currency.

«We see a strong match between our technology and capabilities and the Irish wealth demographic. Ireland has a small but concentrated population which is a great opportunity for us,» said Mark Fordree, CEO, Ignition Wealth.

Westpac Deal

The wealth management arm of Westpac bank, BT Panorama, signed a deal with Ignition earlier this year marking the first time one of the so called «big four banks» chose an independent technology provider for digital advice.
