OCBC launches in-app travel rewards for overseas QR payments
OCBC has become the first bank in Singapore to offer in-app travel rewards and vouchers for overseas QR payments, as demand for cross-border digital payments continues to grow.
Launched on 28 October, Alipay+ Travel Treat allows customers to discover, claim and redeem dining, shopping and travel deals directly through the OCBC app, without downloading additional apps or joining separate loyalty programmes.
The service offers more than 200 merchant deals across seven destinations: mainland China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia and Thailand. Participating merchants include Shake Shack, Matsuya Food, The Shilla Duty-Free and 7-Eleven, as well as shopping malls Suria KLCC and TRX Mall in Kuala Lumpur.
Customers can claim vouchers before travelling, which are automatically applied when they make QR payments at participating Alipay+ merchants.
The launch follows strong growth in overseas QR payments through the OCBC app. In the first eight months of 2026, both the number of customers using the app to pay Alipay+ merchants overseas and the value of their transactions more than doubled compared with the same period last year.
Regina Lim, OCBC’s head of group card payments and personal loans, said the initiative aims to make travel spending more convenient and rewarding by bringing offers together in an app customers already use.
The bank said the partnership with Alipay+, Ant International’s unified wallet gateway, could also pave the way for additional travel services, including ride-hailing and food delivery, to be integrated into the OCBC app.
