Airwallex expands McLaren F1 partnership
Airwallex will become the official AI finance partner of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team in January 2027, extending a technology partnership that began in 2024.
Under the expanded agreement, Singapore based Airwallex will continue to provide payment technology for McLaren’s digital merchandise platform, allowing customers to pay through a range of international and local payment methods. The companies said they also intend to work on financial technology and operational efficiency, it says in a statement.
Airwallex’s branding will appear on the sleeves of the team’s kit, in addition to its existing placements on the Formula 1 cars and drivers’ overalls.
The agreement comes as Airwallex expands its investment in artificial intelligence-based financial software. The company raised $320 million in a Series H funding round in June at a valuation of $11 billion, according to the announcement. Its product development includes T:0, an AI-based platform designed to manage business finance functions, and Airi, a consumer wallet under development.
McLaren Racing Chief Financial Officer Laura Bowden said the partnership would support efforts to improve the speed and efficiency of the team’s financial operations. Airwallex Chief Financial Officer Pranav Sood said the extended agreement would deepen the companies’ relationship and support McLaren’s international operations.
Airwallex has also signed sponsorship and commercial agreements with other sports organizations. These include Arsenal Football Club, where it became the official finance software partner in July 2025, and the San Francisco Giants and New Zealand rugby club the Blues, which announced partnerships with the company in February 2026.
The expanded McLaren agreement builds on three seasons of collaboration, during which Airwallex supported the team’s global financial operations and digital payments infrastructure.
