Linklaters Advises on Singapore Green Bond

International law firm Linklaters has advised the syndicate of managers on Singapore's latest sovereign green bond issuance, a SGD 2,6 billion (approximately USD 2,0 billion) transaction under the government's medium-term note (MTN) programme.

The Green Singapore Government Securities (Infrastructure) due 2046 were issued under the framework established by the Significant Infrastructure Government Loan Act (SINGA), which enables the government to raise long-term funding for major infrastructure projects. The offering also included a retail tranche of approximately SGD 7.6 million for investors in Singapore.

According to Linklaters, the issuance attracted strong investor demand. The proceeds will finance eligible expenditures under the Singapore Green Bond Framework, supporting the country's sustainable infrastructure strategy.

Continuing Role in Singapore's Green Finance Market

The mandate marks another role for Linklaters on Singapore's sovereign green bond programme, following the firm's advice on the government's previous SGD 2.5 billion green bond issuance under the MTN programme.

«This latest transaction is another important milestone in Singapore's sovereign green finance journey and reflects the continued development of its sustainable finance market,» said Amit Singh, partner and Head of South and Southeast Asia Capital Markets at Linklaters. «We are proud to have supported this successful issuance, which demonstrates both the depth of investor demand for high-quality green instruments and the strength of our capital markets capability in the region.»

The Linklaters team was led by Amit Singh and capital markets partner Xunming Lim, supported by managing associate Alwyn Loy and associates Ashley Loh and Reeve Chia.
