Baillie Gifford Names Singapore Client Head
Baillie Gifford has appointed a new client head in Singapore as the global investment manager seeks to deepen its footprint across Southeast Asia. The executive joins from Fullerton Fund Management.
Baillie Gifford has appointed Calvin Liew as Client Relationship Director for Singapore, effective July 1, 2026. He will lead the firm’s client relationships and business development efforts across Southeast Asia, according to a statement on Thursday.
The appointment comes as the Edinburgh-based investment manager seeks to broaden its relationships in Southeast Asia, with Singapore serving as an increasingly important regional wealth hub and gateway to the wider market.
Baillie Gifford currently manages around $8 billion for clients in Asia excluding Japan and serves institutional and intermediary clients across Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
More Than Two Decades of Experience
Liew brings more than 20 years of experience spanning asset allocation, product strategy, institutional business development and investment consulting across Asia-Pacific.
He joins from Fullerton Fund Management, where he was Managing Director and Head of Institutional Client Solutions. In that role, he managed relationships with central banks, insurers and endowments across equities, fixed income and private equity mandates.
Earlier in his career, Liew held positions at Colchester Global Investors, Cambridge Associates, Goldman Sachs Asset Management and PIMCO.
Investors Becoming More Selective
«Across Asia, investors are looking for new sources of long-term growth in an increasingly uncertain market,» said Lorna Kennedy, Head of Asia at Baillie Gifford. She pointed to growing demand for active, growth-focused investment strategies, particularly in emerging-market equities and private companies.
Liew said investors across both institutional and wealth segments in Asia had become increasingly selective. Despite the shift toward passive strategies, he sees continued demand for active managers with a patient, long-term investment approach.
His focus will be on expanding Baillie Gifford’s regional business and strengthening client relationships across Singapore and Southeast Asia.
Baillie Gifford manages $266 billion in assets globally as of the end of May 2026. The investment partnership employs around 1,600 people and has offices across Europe, Asia and North America, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Zurich.
