HSBC Appoints Chief Investment Officer
HSBC today announced the appointment of Desmond Kuang as Chief Investment Officer, Asia, HSBC Private Bank and Premier Wealth, effective 6 July 2026. He will be based in Singapore.
This is a regional appointment designed to strengthen how the bank delivers investment insights and strategy for private banking and premier clients across Asia, HSBC writes in a statement.
Singapore, one of the key international wealth hubs for the bank with strong connectivity across Asia, is a natural choice as a base. With his Asia-wide remit, Desmond Kuang will work closely with teams and clients across multiple markets in Asia.
In his new role, Desmond will be responsible for developing regional investment strategies and themes across all asset classes for private banking and premier clients in the region, excluding Hong Kong.
Kuang brings 20 years of experience in the banking industry, having held a range of leadership positions across asset management and investment research sectors. He is currently Chief Investment Officer, China and Interim Head of Wealth and Premier Solutions, China.
Before joining HSBC he worked as a portfolio manager for Income Partners Asset Management and subsequently served as its General Manager and Head of Investment in Mainland China.
