AIIB Plans to Set Up Hong Kong Office

Multilateral development bank AIIB will expand its international operations with its second office outside of mainland China.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has announced its plan to open an office in Hong Kong to address «growing business needs», according to a statement by the local government. This marks its second office outside of mainland China after the first one was launched in Abu Dhabi in 2023.

Established in January 2016, AIIB is a multilateral development bank that is focused on sustainable economic development in Asia by investing in infrastructure and other productive sectors. It also encourages private investment in projects, enterprises and activities that contribute to economic development in the region. Hong Kong has formally been an AIIB member since June 2017.
