Four Arrested in Alleged Crypto Scheme in Hong Kong

Hong Kong authorities arrested four men suspected of money laundering linked to cryptocurrency valued at $155 million.

The operation – «Coin Breaker» – involved cryptocurrency valued at HK$1.2 billion ($155 million), according to a statement from the Hong Kong Customs, and four men aged between 24 and 33. 

Starting on July 8, funds were processed via remittances between crypto exchanges and various local bank accounts involving stablecoin Tether.

This was the first time Hong Kong Customs detected money laundering involving cryptocurrency, the statement added.
