The firm has created a new research and insights team, whose aim is to provide the firm’s retail and institutional clients with differentiated and thought-provoking investment content, and promote its extensive research and analysis.

HSBC Global Asset Management (GAM) has appointed Stuart Kirk as global head of research and insights, the firm said in a statement on Wednesday.

The research and insights team will work closely with the responsible investments team in the creation and publishing of analysis on sustainable finance, and house the firm’s portfolio reporting team.

Kirk will also lead AlphaLabs, a new initiative that aims to combine traditional research with new investment approaches and technologies. Based in London, he reports to HSBC GAM global CIO Joanna Munro.

Extensive Experience

Kirk joins HSBC GAM from asset manager DWS, where he ran its research team. He was previously Deutsche Bank's global head of multi-asset and thematic research, and prior to that, was the editor of the «Financial Times» Lex column for seven years.

Kirk has also worked in the asset management practice of consultancy Oliver Wyman, and spent eight years as a global equity portfolio manager at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell.

«Stuart has a wealth of experience which will be instrumental in shaping our Research and Insights team, ensuring that our clients have access to the highest-quality research and content in order to make better informed investment decisions,» Munro said.
