Orix To Acquire U.S. Real Estate Lender
Orix has agreed to buy U.S. real estate lender Hunt Real Estate Capital in order to tap into the country’s property-linked loan market.
Orix will buy all of Hunt Real Estate Capital shares, according to a «Bloomberg» report, citing anonymous sources as the deal has not yet been announced.
Tokyo-based Orix has been targeting acquisition targets authorized to originate and sell loans to U.S. housing agencies and government-sponsored enterprises. Related acquisitions include Lancaster Pollard Holdings in 2017 and Red Capital Group in 2010, which specialize in providing loans to senior homes and affordable housing, respectively.
Hunt Real Estate Capital provides credit to developers of multi-family housing by underwriting mortgage loans that are insured or guaranteed by major domestic American financial entities such as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Federal Housing Administration.
