A veteran that brings almost 20 years of investment banking experience has been appointed Head of Indonesia Coverage in Credit Suisse's Asia Pacific Investment Banking & Capital Markets division.

Based in Jakarta, Eric Winarta’s focus will be on driving the further growth of Credit Suisse’s IBCM business in Indonesia, where the bank has built a leading franchise over the past 20 years, the Swiss bank announced. In this role, he will be responsible for broadening the bank’s relationships with entrepreneurs and corporate clients in the local market as well as delivering the full range of Credit Suisse’s integrated bank offering in line with its ambition to be the Bank for Entrepreneurs in Asia Pacific.

He will report to Pankaj Goel and Rizal Gozali, Credit Suisse’s co-heads of IBCM, Southeast Asia.

Winarta brings more than 19 years of investment banking experience to Credit Suisse, in both Jakarta and Singapore, with an established track record in developing client relationships and leading origination and execution of M&A and capital markets transactions. Prior to joining Credit Suisse, he served as ING’s Head of Indonesia Corporate Finance and was also previously Barclays’ Head of Indonesia Investment Banking.

During his career, which includes stints with Standard Chartered Bank and Rothschild, Winarta has advised on many noteworthy transactions such as PT Protelindo’s acquisition of PT Komet Infra Nusantara, Saratoga Group’s divestment of PT Medco Power Indonesia, Panin Group’s sale of PT Asuransi Multi Artha Guna Tbk to Fairfax Asia, a 3 billion euros bond offering for the Government of Indonesia, and PT Garuda Indonesia’s $895 million debt restructuring. He holds a Master of Science from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
