The head of the global south Asia team at DBS has resigned from his position, according to information obtained by finews.asia. The private banker is likely heading for a rival Asian bank.

In a move that is sure to surprise many, Varun Chugh, the head of the global south Asia team, resigned from his position at DBS, according to a source familiar with the matter. Chigh, who joined the Singapore-based bank in 2012 from Switzerland's Clariden Leu, survived the bank’s 2014 acquisition of Societe Generale and saw his role expanded at the end of it.

A career private banker, Chugh is well-known in Asian private banking circles and is believed to be headed to a rival bank in Asia.
