Bank of Singapore added a trio of industry veterans to to strengthen the bank’s China, Hong Kong and Taiwan coverage. The hires put the Singapore bank's Hong Kong office firmly in female hands.

The OCBC-owned private bank is hiring three senior bankers to bolster its Hong Kong arm, according to a media statement on Thursday. The hires stand up ambitious hiring plans flagged by Bank of Singapore's boss in Hong Kong, Derrick Tan, earlier this year.

Phonda Chan joined the Singapore-based bank as market head focusing on Hong Kong. Chan was poached from LGT, where she also led a team of private bankers covering China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Influential Female Bankers

BoS hired Anne Song as market head for a new team focusing on the offshore Taiwan market. Before joining BoS, Song was country team head for Taiwan at UBS' private bank.

BNP private banker Jacqueline Lee joined BoS as executive director and takes on the role of the branch’s head of risk. Prior to joining BoS she worked with BNP Paribas wealth management.

Taken together with the recent hire of Angel Wu for its product management group and Teresa Lee as market head, there are now 11 women in 17 leadership positions at the bank's Hong Kong branch.
