Active investment management firm Man Group appointed a new managing director within its institutional sales team in Hong Kong.

Charmian Wan joins the firm with immediate effect reporting to Hersh Gandhi, managing director, Asia-Pacific at Man Group (Man).

She joins Man from Lazard Asset Management, where she was director, head of business development and marketing, Asia ex-Japan. She previously held roles at BlueBay Asset Management as head of sales, Asia ex-Japan, and spent in excess of five years at UBS investment bank, the investment manager said in a press release.

In her new role Wan will focus on the firm's institutional client business across Asia, encompassing five investment managers, Man AHL, Man Numeric, Man GLG, Man FRM and Man Global Private Markets. Earlier this week Man announced the launch of its first onshore investment strategy for qualified investors in China.
