Law firm Stephenson Harwood has hired a new partner in the firm’s private wealth team in Hong Kong.

Stephenson Harwood strengthened its private wealth team with the addition of partner Laurence Ho, who joins the firm's Hong Kong office from private wealth specialists Withers.

Ho's practice is focused on international tax, trust and estate planning for high-net worth individuals, families, estates and fiduciaries the firm said in a press release.

He has advised on U.S. expatriation and pre-immigration matters, as well as counselling individuals and families on their U.S. tax compliance and foreign bank account reporting obligations.

The hire comes a year or so after the firm added Erik Wallace as a partner in its Hong Kong private wealth team, Wallace was also previously a partner with Withers. Earlier this year Stephenson Harwood confirmed plans to open a new office in Yangon, Myanmar, further expanding the firm's reach across Southeast Asia.
