The global law firm has appointed new co-managing partners and a senior partner for Asia.

DLA Piper has appointed Qiang Li (known as LQ) and Satpal Gobindpuri as co-regional managing partners in Asia.

Together they will have responsibility for day-to-day management and operations in the region, the firm said in a press release.

Li is based in Shanghai while Gobindpuri is in the firm's Hong Kong office. The changes are effective as of 1 September.

Of Strategic Importance

The firm also announced Roy Chan will be taking on the role of Asia senior partner, providing leadership on strategy and client development for the region.

Terry O'Malley will remain in his role as Chair of the Asia Committee, on which he sits with Global Co-CEOs Simon Levine and Jay Rains, and continue to be a key element of the regional leadership team working with LQ, Gobindpuri and Chan.

«Asia is a strategically important region for many of our clients, and therefore for the firm as a whole,» said O'Malley.
