Swiss private bank J. Safra Sarasin has created a new role and appointed a Managing Director as Head External Asset Managers & Intermediaries, Asia.

Based in Singapore Peter Buehler will take on the new position for the bank with immediate effect, the firm said in a statement to finews.asia today.

Buehler has 10 years of experience in this area and more than 30 years’ experience in private banking. He joins J. Safra Sarasin from VP Bank Singapore, where he most recently established a Key Client Desk. Previously he headed Intermediaries and International Clients, joining VP Bank in 2012.

Buehler joined VP Bank from Clariden Leu Singapore, where he built the international business from 2010 to 2012. From 1991 to 2010 he worked at UBS in Switzerland, London and Singapore, where he was Head of Financial Intermediaries, Southeast Asia from 2007.

Growing Demand

The external asset management and intermediary business has been growing strongly across the whole Asian region and banks, both large and small, have been adding dedicated desks and financial technology services to tap into this fresh revenue stream.
