Moomoo Singapore announced a strategic collaboration on Tuesday, underscoring a shared mission with Barings to democratise access to institutional-grade private credit products. Traditionally reserved for ultra-high-net-worth individuals and institutions, these opportunities will now be available to accredited investors at lower entry thresholds.
With more than $442 billion in assets under management, Barings brings decades of experience in private markets to the table. Its strategies, recognised for disciplined risk management and consistent yield potential, will now be accessible through the moomoo app, enabling investors to tap into senior secured loans and other private debt instruments across North America and Europe.
Why Private Credit Matters Now
Private credit – direct lending to businesses outside public markets – has gained traction for offering higher yields and lower volatility than traditional bonds or equities. According to «PitchBook» data, private credit funds delivered average annual returns of 8-10 percent over the past decade, making the asset class attractive to income-focused and diversification-seeking investors.
The sector’s momentum is clear: global private credit assets under management are projected to almost double to $2.8 trillion by 2028, up from $1.5 trillion in 2022, according to data cited by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). As investors seek alternatives beyond public markets, private credit is fast emerging as a core portfolio component.
