Australian Private Credit Manager Adds ASEAN Board Advisor
Private credit investment manager Zagga has added a senior board advisor for Southeast Asia and launched a new fund in Singapore.
Zagga has appointed Roushana Sjahsam as senior board advisor ASEAN, according to a statement. In the newly created role, she is charged with raising awareness of Zagga and its specialized real estate private credit offer amongst institutional investors, family offices and wealth managers across Southeast Asia.
Sjahsam has three decades of experience across debt and capital markets in Asia, working most recently as managing director at Cantor Fitzgerald Capital Markets in Hong Kong. Previously, she also worked at Citibank and Asia Pacific credit provider, ADM Capital, for over a decade.
New Fund
In addition, Zagga has launched a new Singapore Variable Capital Company (VCC) – the Zagga Real Estate Credit Fund. Established to support the growing appetite from ASEAN investors for Australian real estate private credit, the fund will invest directly in quality prime commercial real estate across Australia’s east coast.
«We see strong demand from investors across the region, but many still haven’t discovered the Zagga experience. We are expanding our footprint and making it easier to invest with us. To do this successfully we recognize the importance of having a senior team on the ground to help investors every step of the way,» said Zagga CEO Alan Greenstein.
«We are thrilled to have someone of Roushana’s experience and network join our Singapore-based board advisor, Alok Kochhar, in growing our regional team and believe our specialized proposition, track record, and localized investment solution provide all the key ingredients to make Zagga a compelling choice for investors.»
Regional Target
According to Zagga, ASEAN capital currently accounts for around 15 percent of the firm’s total funds under management and it has a goal of doubling this over the next two years. To support its ambitions, the regional headcount has expanded by 50 percent in the last 12 months.
Incorporated in 2016, Zagga is an Australian alternative real estate investment manager focused on tailored private credit solutions. Since originating its first loan in 2017, it has invested over $2.5 billion in the commercial real estate debt sectors. The Sydney-based firm’s investor base includes high net worth individuals, family offices, and institutional funders from Japan, Singapore, China, Mauritius, Switzerland, USA, South Africa and Australia.
