The German lender's latest appointment underscores its ambitions to grow its business in North Asia.

Deutsche Bank Wealth Management (DBWM) has appointed Boris Kwok as Group Head, North Asia, with a focus in China, the private bank announced in a statement on Friday.

Kwok, who has 20 years' experience in the industry, joins from Standard Chartered where he has held various roles since 2002, most recently as managing director and market head of the bank's China team. 

Along with Kwok, the bank is bringing in 20 other talented front-facing wealth management professionals, six of whom are directors, the statement said. Kwok reports to Kanas Chan, managing director and head of North Asia. The hires form part of DBWM's expansion strategy in North Asia to increase the number of relationship managers by 40-50 percent in three years.

Under Lok Yim, the bank's head of Asia, Middle East and Africa, Deutsche Bank WM has set its sights on Asia's rich, bolstering its ranks to grow its business, particularly in North Asia.

Among its recent hires are Eric Leung, who joined in May 2019 to lead its Asia fixed income team, and Jeffrey Yen Chieh Peng, who joined the bank in September 2019 as managing director and head of China onshore wealth management.

It also added directors Abishek Sharma, Ravi Sidhu and Kabir Sharma in August 2019 to cover offshore Indian clients.
